Luna’s Painted Touch: A Customer Story That Made My Day

I LOVE working in coffee shops. There’s something about the steady hum of conversation, the comforting clatter of cups, and the scent of fresh pastries that fuels my creativity. And then there are the people—like Luna.

Luna and I met the way many friendships begin in cafés: over casual chats while waiting for coffee. She was warm, observant, and curious. When I mentioned I make handmade jewelry and homewares, she lit up. I showed her a few photos on my phone, and she was instantly intrigued by my cement vessels.

That Christmas, Luna asked if she could buy a couple of my “butt vessels” as gifts. Of course, I said yes—and I was thrilled when she mentioned she planned to paint them herself. I had no idea what kind of talent she was working with.

When Luna sent me photos of her finished pieces, I was stunned. One vessel had been transformed into a torso wearing a painted-on bathing suit—playful and bold.

The other kept the natural cement visible, adorned with delicate blades of grass rising from the base and bright, colorful flowers blooming across each cheek. Her brushstrokes were so fine and detailed, I actually paused to wonder how she pulled them off.

But that’s just Luna. She’s endlessly creative—knitting soft padding for her glasses’ arms to avoid ear pain, altering her own clothes on her sewing machine, and arranging flowers like a pro. She even found a charming way to use my petite vases in her floral creations.

Getting to see how others interpret and add to my work is one of the biggest joys of what I do. Thank you, Luna, for reminding me how art, craft, and connection bloom in the most unexpected places.

Luna turned a simple cement vessel into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece and you can, too. My DIY kits and unfinished homewares are made to spark your imagination. Paint them, decorate them, or leave them as-is — the creative choice is all yours!

Here are some options, ranging from whimsical to classic to even bold!

Individual unfinished products that you can paint are sprinkled throughout the site as well. An example:

Spectacles tray

Bevy of booties

Butt out vase
